Chapter 24
B-Simon mysteriously ran out of the room after Sarah said something about the halberd, but no one paid him much attention because he always did strange things at strange times. “I know plenty of people with halberds,” said Euph. “Oh really?” asked Betsy. “Name three!” she exclaimed. “Okay,” said Euph calmly. “Charles the Bold was killed by one…” she paused, thinking placidly. “Never mind,” said Sarah who could see that this was getting them nowhere. “We have other very incriminating evidence Euphemiana, if that even is your real name.” “Dear Euphy,” said Betsy, “it was the tea cozy that really got us going though. Do you remember?” Sarah took over now (the girls shared the revealing of the clues, it’s one of the best parts!) “When you went to the apothecary to steal the Deathly Nightgrip Liquid, you wore a tea-cozy over your head so you wouldn’t be spotted. But as you passed us on the lane you dropped it.” It was Betsy’s turn now, “That made us wonder, why in the world would a little old granny be carrying around a tea-cozy in her handbag? That’s very odd indeed.”
