Chapter 25

S- “This is a knitted tea-cozy as you can see. A knitted tea-cozy that was knitted by none other than the killer herself! It’s a special tea-cozy isn’t it Euphemiana?” Betsy reached into the stitches wiggled her hand around a bit. “While it acts as an excellent disguise while creeping through the forest it also serves several other purposes.” Betsy was still struggling with the tea-cozy and people were starting to wonder if she had gone yumpy. “It is an excellent muffling tool for poor puppies about to be abandoned in the forest, wiping blood off of halberds, keeping mist off of one’s ears, and keeping tea warm too I suppose. But the most unique thing about this tea-cozy is the secret compartment knitted right into the fluff!” Just as the knittery was about to be shredded to pieces by Betsy’s persistent efforts, it there was a click and a small object rolled out from among the fluff. “Its so fluffy you see that to the ordinary person the compartment would go unnoticed. A bottle of nightgrip liquid is just about the perfect size to fit and that’s what I imagine this is.” Sarah remarked picking up the unlabeled bottle. “The first night we were here and on our way to the forest we heard some shuffling in the forest. We attributed it to a squirrel but it was really Euph. All old people shuffle you know.” The revelation session was interrupted by the slamming open of the pub door. Streaks of blinding sunlight penetrated the smokey darkness. Simon came in lugging two halberds behind him. One matching the murder weapon almost exactly except for this one didn’t have the dent in the handle and wasn’t covered in blood. The second was a great deal older but still looked venomous. “This one is Winkey and the other is Roberto--her favorites.” Simon stated matter-of-factly gesturing to the ancient weapons, “I always thought it was strange that grandmother had such a large collection of these. She told me she had a fascination with the occult which confused me because halberds don’t really have anything to do with the occult.”
